Worship: Sundays at 5:00 PM

We have moved and now worship in Redhead Hall located in First Presbyterian Church at 617 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC. We still gather between 4:30 and 5:00 and at 5:00 the service begins. Music Our worship includes the traditional elements of praise, confession, scripture, thanksgiving and prayer along with contemporary folk and traditional hymns, all in an informal atmosphere. Each Sunday, we have a special worship time for our children during which all our children gather together and are encouraged to participate in the discussion, after which the children go off to Sunday School. The sermon attempts to involve worshippers in dialogue as to how the scriptures speak to our everyday lives. The Lord's Supper is ordinarily celebrated every Sunday, along with a simple meal. A nursery is always available.

Study and Fellowship

We meet for study and fellowship in Elder groups led by the Elders of the church. This is a time of study, sharing and prayer. These groups meet on a regular basis at times convenient for the different groups. Specific times will be listed in the monthly calendar. We also gather as a church frequently for fun and fellowship. These gatherings include such things as picnics, hayrides and movie nights. The nurture of the church includes training, equipping and supporting one another as we seek to grow in our faith. The church, says Gordon Cosby, is a "community whose very purpose is to nurture its members in such a way as to bring about a transformation of life." As we become the new creation that God intends us to be, we also become instruments of God's reconciling love in the world.

Following Christ takes us in two directions:

Inward to meet God and to hear God's word for our lives.

Outward in grateful response to God's love and grace, to be a part of God's reconciling the whole world.

As we worship together, as we support one another, and as we witness together, a sense of community develops. As God's spirit works among us in this kind of setting, we are brought to the radical transformation that enables us to be faithful disciples.

Witnessing Together

We witness with both words and deeds, and live toward developing a Christian style of living that is different and distinguishable from that of the world around us. As we grow in our faithfulness to the life that Christ calls us to live, our witness to the world will grow increasingly faithful, relevant, and evident.

BenedictionOne of the things that is often missing in the life of the church is a place for hands-on service. Development of ourselves as mature Christians requires the opportunity for this kind of involvement in the lives of our neighbors. All too often, we let our money become a substitute for personal contact with the needs of others, and fail to utilize service as a spiritual discipline for our growth in faith.

We facilitate the experience of service through Mission Groups. Someone within the congregation sounds the call for the work or service which they perceive to be needed, and a Mission Group, composed of others in the congregation who also perceive the need and feel a call to serve, forms around that concern.

Our witness has involved us in such concerns as hunger, housing, education, international missions and issues of peace and justice. Specifically these concerns have led us to work with the Beloved Community Center, Greensboro Urban Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, Jubilee Jobs, Mary's House and Bread for the World along with churches in South Africa, Mexico and Nicaragua.
