Goat Lady Dairy
Ginnie Tate, a member of New Creation Community, raised goats as a hobby for many years and was affectionately known by her friends and customers as “the Goat Lady,” so when the North Carolina Department of Agriculture granted the Tates’ goat dairy their license in 1996, they decided to take the name “Goat Lady Dairy.” Today this working farm is rich in the diversity of pastures, ponds, meadows, gardens, woodlands, wildlife and livestock.
We hold worship at the dairy several times a year. At Christmas we have begun a tradition of acting out the story of the birth of Jesus with the backdrop of the dairy barn, a beautiful starlit sky, the stable filled with baaing, nudging friendly goats and an assortment of “actors” of all ages playing their parts. It is indeed a magical experience. We love being at Goat Lady Dairy!
During kidding season, Ginnie collects old sweat pants to make vests for the “kids” and she often brings a newborn baby goat to church for children’s worship. Now that is a memorable service!
